Multiaxial Carbon Fiber Fabrics

Multiaxial Carbon Fiber Fabrics FIBRE REINFORCEMENTS

Product Code: SDF-FIB-012

Multiaxial reinforcements place fibre tows parallel in designed load directions and secure them with fine stitching. This helps reduce woven crimp and speeds up the placement of multiple orientations.

Why does it matter?

Composite performance is not determined by GSM alone. Fibre direction, stacking sequence, resin system, fibre volume fraction and process must be assessed together.

Available constructions

  • Biaxial ±45°: shear and torsional loads
  • Biaxial 0°/90°: reinforcement along two principal axes
  • Triaxial 0°/±45°: combined axial and shear loading
  • Quadraxial: a balanced four-direction reinforcement approach

See the carbon fibre fabric sourcing guide for GSM and orientation selection, or ask our technical team.

Technical Details

According to the relevant TDS, variants are supplied at 127 cm standard width with E5 stitch gauge and 2.8 mm stitch length. Areal weight, tolerance, stitch pattern and roll length vary by product code.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is multiaxial carbon fabric?
It is a composite reinforcement in which fibre tows are laid parallel in defined directions and held by fine polyester stitching, helping minimise woven crimp.
Which fibre orientation should be selected?
±45° is considered for shear and torsion, 0°/90° for principal-axis loads, and triaxial or quadraxial structures for multiple load directions. Final selection must follow laminate design.
Can custom widths be supplied?
The TDS documents state a standard width of 127 cm and custom widths up to 2.54 metres; quantity and lead time are confirmed at quotation.
