SAERTEX Biax XE610; stitched non-crimp (NCF) biaxial glass fibre fabric with ±45° orientation and 610 g/m² areal weight, for areas dominated by shear and torsional loads.
SAERTEX Biax XE610 is the ±45° member of the multiaxial glass fibre fabric family. Unlike woven fabrics, the fibres do not pass over and under each other; they are laid in straight layers and fixed by stitching. Thanks to this non-crimp fabric (NCF) structure, the fibres carry load directly and higher mechanical strength is achieved than with a woven fabric of the same weight. The ±45° fibre orientation suits areas dominated by shear and torsional loads. With an areal weight of 610 g/m², it builds thickness quickly in a single ply, reducing the number of plies and labour time. Applications: boat and yacht hulls, wind turbine blades, automotive and commercial-vehicle parts, and industrial composites such as tanks and pipes. Suitable processes: vacuum infusion, hand lay-up, RTM. Compatible resins: polyester / vinyl ester / epoxy – confirm with the technical data sheet.
